TC 18 Knocking
| Matthew WIlliams | New Holland TC18. Engine Knocks and smokes blue when you tighten the #3 Injector line (closest to front of engine.) This didn't happen till the tractor bogged down enough to kill the engine. The sedement bowl was full of water, and the filter was covered with a white residue. Any sugguestions? |
| Leon | Sounds like you found the cylinder. Blue smoke is generally oil consumption. Water doesn't compress, you could have bent the connecting rod. The white residue could be additives in the diesel fuel that separate out when the fuel gets extremely cold. I would not run the engine any longer until you find the source of the knock and fix it. -Leon |
| Matthew Williams | Thanks Leon. I'm headed to M&S implement in the morning. Are these little engines expensive to work on? (parts etc.)
|
| Leon | How expensive will really depend on what is wrong and what needs to be replaced. -Leon |
| Matt | Turns out it was still just air in the fuel system. Ran the engine out of fuel, and started re bleeding the system again, this time took about 15 minutes, and then it ran fine. Thanks for your relpies Leon.
