3 Bottom Plows

Joe Cunningham I left the farm after school and and worked as a sideboom operator until a couple of years ago my brother and I bought a m tractor and a set of three bottom plows in 1948 and now we can't get the plows to throw sod up hill on fildes I know that I plowed when I was a kid we restored the tractor and it runs great. We think that maybe if we had a manual we could find out whats wrong.I remember the manual told how to lay out the fields some one stole all the old manuals after Dad died and I haven't done any plowing since I was 18 and I can't remember any thing about farming I am 72 now and we plant deer clover on the old home stead so far we have to throw it all down hill. I hope some one can help us. Thanks Joe
Rick Joe,

There's a book entitled "Mechanics in Agriculture" at our local library. It's been a great help to me in setting the draft and adjusting the load on my plows, as well as showing how to set up other farm equipment.

If you want to email me your address or fax #, I'll mail or fax the pages from the book about plow adjustments.

My fields are flat, so I'm not sure if I know the answer to your problem. I always plow around the edges first. I've seen others do kind of a figure eight.
