460 tranny

john My 460 won't shift. I took off cover plate and the gears will not slide like they should. Anyone know what may be the cause and how to fix?
tomboy Is the trans full of water and frozen? has it sat for years and the shafts are rusty?
john no water or rust
jim What cover did you take off. That little plate where a belt pulley attachment goes on. Certainly not the main top cover. Sounds like you have gear wind up due to TA needing adjustment or possibly a pin out of ta clutch finger or worn out fingers. That TA has an over running clutch which is the low side drive and if the dry 7 inch ta clutch does not release the gears cannot roll backwards to release the tension. You need to make sure that clutch releases. Not main clutch, TA clutch.
