Farmall A Steering

Rick Weldon Farmall A very hard to steer what could be the problem?

If you jack up the front end does it still turn hard, that would eliminate some front end parts.

you might check the steering linkage from the steering gear arm out to the steering knuckle arms. the ball ends in the tie rod ends may be severely worn, very dry, or need adjustment. there also could be broken bushings(what i call bushings are concave shaped pieces which fit on either side of the ball part inside the tie rod ends)these can be fabricated using a 1/4" slice of the correct diameter round stock.if none of these are your problem, i'd expect to find the problem inside the steering gear box which should have plenty of oil, as well. if it's leaking , seals can be replaced without removing the entire unit from the tractor, good luck, martin
