IH/656 rear tire question
| Steve Minor | Can I run a 15.5x38 tire on one side and a 16.9x38 on the other side without any problems? I have one of each and am trying to save some money buy not buying a new set of tires right now. Thanks Steve Minor Wilmington, NC |
| MGS | It seems like a bad idea. It will certainly put extra stress on the differential. It might be worth a search of craigs list for a used tire. You could also call around to a few of the larger tire shops.

| Steve Minor | Yeah, I was thinking that too. I'm sure one of the tires is taller than the other. I'm just having a tough time finding 15.5x38's at a reasonable price. I do have a reasonable quote from Dick's Tires in Genoa, Nebraska for a set with 50% tread, but when you add shipping to North Carolina, it starts to add up. Anybody ever bought from Dick's Tires? The web site is: http://www.dickstires.com/ Does anyone have a source for used 15.5x38's or 16.9's? |
| Steve Minor | Finally broke down and bought 2 new 15.5x38's from Tucker Tire in Tenn...They were delivered yesterday.
