Switching PTO, 1000 to 540

Thor wicklund	I have a 706 International tractor with 1,000 PTO, want to switch to 540. How do I do this? Thanks
jim	You need to replace the rear unit with a dual speed that has both shafts and speeds. Not like some of the competition where you reverse the shaft.
Thor wicklund	Thanks, so this is basically going to involve removing the whole rear portion of the PTO housing, I am guessing a major Job. The tractor is at my rothers house so I do not have it here to look at, but wondering what I need to buy to convert this. thanks
Hugh MacKay	Thor: I think you have been told what you need. there are two different PTO units for that tractor. 1,000 RPM only and the other unit has twin shaft 540 RPM and 1,000 RPM. You have to buy a complete twin shaft unit. Shouldn't be hard, 90% of them were twin shaft.
