Digital dash

Mike I have a 1981 1086. My digital dash always worked fine, yesterday while operating it I noticed the Tach was stuck or showing 6450 and the mph showed 54.5. The egt is still working but the pto's are also showing false numbers. Any ideas???
jim Pull the tach out where you can at the back, no need to disconnect wiring harness, pull the slip in module out the back, clean the contacts on it with an eraser on a lead pencil. This assumes you have original style dig tach and not the replacement version. If this doesn't help, pull the inline fuse out of the wire that is located in same area as other fuses and clean contacts, then pull rpm sensor at engine clutch housing and clean it up. You may be lucky and get it to work.
Mike Thanks again Jim. I didnt find the module you were talking about, but I unscrewed the wiring plug and there were about a dozen little pins. Does that sound like an aftermarket or replacement unit?? Anyway, a little jiggling and it went back to normal.
jim If no module in back it would be the later replacement style, sounds like you located the area of the problem, both styles use the same multiple pin connector and they are subject to making poor contact, bent pins, corrosion etc.
