Kathy I need to know which spark plug wire is considered #1 and where it goes into the distributor. Thanks,

Hugh MacKay Kathy: Plug wire going to plug at front of engine. At the distributor it the top right terminal, standing behind clutch.
carl menke On a 1948 model M the wire going to the mag ,is it a ground through the ign.switch ? Thanks
