broken pto shaft
|LeRoy C||when cutting hay with discbine i made a corner and broke the 540
|LeRoy C||When cutting hay with discbine i made a corner with international 986 and snapped the 540 shaft, how much work is involved in fixing this and what would cause this as it has never happen before.tractor and discbine was just bought used?
|MGS||I have seen them twist off in high torque situations.
You need to take the IPTO unit off and have it disassembled to replace the shaft. You may as well have the clutch pack rebuilt and seals replaced while it is out.
|scott||seeings how it might have sheared off id suggest running a pto overrun clutch bewteen the pto and the implement next time
|Brian Tharp||I have a Farmall H and was doing the same thing with a shredder and disengaged the clutch at the wrong time and now only 5th gear is working. No pto or other working gears. Could someone please tell me where to start to fix? Thanks, Brian
