Tractor Question
| John | I made a mistake and put a little diesel in the oil resevior. Will this hurt my tractor. It started and ran good for one week. Now it wont start. |
| MGS | We need more info. What model, which oil reservoir, how much is "a little"? The diesel would thin out the oil and cause extra wear. I don't think it would cause the motor to not start. You should have drained it all out and replace with good oil when you realized the mistake. |
| JOHN | INTERNATIONAL 2400QT A LITTLE IS ABOUT A 1 CUP. BUT I PUT A SOCK DOWN THE OIL SHOOT AND SOAKED MOST OF IT UP I TRIED TO START IT JUST NOW AND I THINK THE BATTERY IS LOW. |
| rich4 | Running it a little would be OK with a cup of diesel fuel in the oil until warm, but then it is prudent to change the oil with good oil as soon as possible. Oil thins too fast on it's own, it does not need help. But sounds like you also have a battery problem. Don't take chances. Oil is cheap compared to repairs. You soaked it up how long after you added the fuel? Like I said don't go any further until a new oil and filter change. |
