International 3588 2+2

Fred McMinn Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of owning a 3588. It is coming up at an auction in a couple weeks and I was considering it to put on a Hesston big baler. It has a new transmission, pto,and hydraulic pump.
Thanks,

Hugh MacKay Fred: You never hear anyone rave about them. I tried one at a demonstration on a chisel plow back when they were new. At the time I owned a 1066 and an articulated Deere. I found the 3588 to be very clumsey, almost gave you the feeling you were trying to pull a farm implement with a locomotive. It wasn't overloaded with drawbar power either. I came away unexcited about 2+2 tractors. I felt it was too much chassis for the engine.

What I've found about articulated tractors, your vission is much better from the front half, they are also much smoother up front. Problem when your setting in seat of that 3588 and start to turn right, the back half actually goes left in the beginning. very annoying if your looking over you right shoulder watching an implement.

PORKY B. I will agree with Hugh with nobody raving about them. They are quite a mess to split to do the clutch and t a .Poorly designed mess as far as I`m concerned. They obviously didn`t go over that good. Short life production of them.As I call them banana nose mess.
