Welding cast iron heads, blocks and castings

Chris A. Schell Do you have a cracked cylinder head, block or casting? I can repair it. With 24 years of cast iron experience, I have seen it all. I have rebuilt over 10,000 heads, blocks and castings. I've welded Model T Fords to the latest John Deere and Cat. diesels. I've finally hooked up with a top notch machinist and have went into business for myself. I love welding cast iron. It's truly an art and almost a lost one. I repair all castings in an oven, at temps. from 700 to 1400 degrees F. Cracks are usually cut out in the oven using an oxy/acet. torch. Then the crack and the surrounding metal that has been melted away, is welded back up using a castiron filler rod. After the casting has cooled ( several hours) it can be cleaned up ( sand blasted ) then magnafluxed for cracks again, pressure tested if needed and then ultimately machined to whatever specifications are necessary. I do not pin anything! I was taught to rebuild items, not patch them. So if your looking for someone to rebuild your castiron item, give me a call. My business is called THE HEAD DOCTORS. I can be reached through this e-mail address or at 515-382-5317 or my partner Rich at 515-432-7594. We are located at 1767 200th St. in Boone, Iowa 50036
Thanks,Chris
