How to install electric brake control on compact tractor?
| Michael | I want install electric brake control on my tractor, can anybody advise me if it is possible to do so and how will be work? and which brake control I can use. thanks |
| Paul | we have to know what tractor model, year, and what kind of electric brakes you want to install. my suggestion is that if your pulling something that needs brakes with a compact, you should buy a bigger tractor. But, it can be done with a pickup brake controller and a sensor/switch mounted on the brake pedals. You wouldnt even need the switches if your tractor already has working brake lights, which alot of the newer tractors do. You will have to make an adapter connector for the lights and controller harness to fit a regular pickup trailer male connector. It can be done, but I still advise a larger tractor, or possibly weight up the existing tractor with cast iron weights or loading the rear tires with fluid balast.

| Michael | Thanks Paul for your help,I have 2006 JOHN DEERE 790 compact tractor with 27hp and trailer 5X10" with electric brake, yes tractor have working brake lights. Can you draft installation for me (like wiring diagram ) if is possible thanks again Paul. |
| Paul | yea, I can work on a basic diagram I think. The basics are, you need a pick up truck brake booster box and there should be instructions on how to install the power to the box itself. they are all pretty much the same. If you have purchased a brake booster box, if you could send me the diagram, then i can further customize that to fit the tractor. On the john deeres, there should be 2 push button switches under the deck plate, one for each brake petal. If its a hydro, then there is probably only one. but thats where you have to hook in the wire for brake control to the box. You can e-mail me with more details and i will do my best to get something figured out here.
