1953 naa oil dipstick

dennis I need to know the exact length of an naa oil dipstick. I bought a new one with NAA part# from supply store and it bottoms out on the bottom of the oil pan. I was thinking of trimming the end down a 1/2 to 1 inch, but wanted to make sure the length was right from the cap base to the end of the dipstick.Please email if you have the answer.Thanks.
