Kubota or Branson???

Chad M. Dunbar I am a general contractor in Florida and am in the market for a 4x4 compact tractor with a FEL. I will use this tractor for loader and box blade work on the job site and for brush hogging, moving trailers around and other misc. chores around my personal property. Realistically, I may put 80 - 120 hours on this unit per year. It will be stored inside our shop and will be well maintained. That being said, I have narrowed my selection down to the Kubota L3430 GST and the Branson 3510. All things equal, I would select the Kubota because it is a proven brand with good dealer support and parts availability. The only thing is that the Kubota is approx. $5000 more than the Branson. Both tractors have similar features and capabilites; however the Kubota GST model does have a better shuttle shift tranny. I have test driven both tractors and am impressed with both. Fit and finish is nice on both units as well. The nearest Branson dealer is about 80 miles away, but seems like he would be very good to work with on the sale, warranty and service issues. In fact, he sold Kubota for several years and he feels that Branson tractor is of equal quality and performance. As a side note, if I select the Branson brand, I could upgrade to the 4220 (a 42hp unit) for $2,500 less than the Kubota L3430. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Happy Holidays!
Tim R I have been a mechanic for 2 different Kubota dealers for the last 7 years. I am a little bias but I would buy a Kubota hands down. We have sent out over 100 new Grand L30 series Kubotas and have had very few to no problems with them. I own one myself and wouldnt have any other. I have never seen or heard of a Branson but the GST is almost bullet proof, and the best part is you dont have to use the clutch to shift gears or from forward to reverse, any tech questions feel free to ask
Josh C If you go with the 4220 you also get higher lift capacities at both ends.
DANNY D THE 4220 BRANSON OR THE C42 CENTURY SAME TRACTOR WILL WORK THE KUBOTA L3430 IN TO THE GROUND LIGHTER TRACTOR JUST NOT AS STURDY KUBOTA IS LIVING OFF ITS NAME.
david g i have having the very same problem, deciding between branson and kubota. my only cocern is the name brand, but like you said you can buy a brason for alot less money and if you compare tractor to tractor it seems the branson is alot more bang for the buck. any comments on this would be greatly appriciated tahnks
Smitty I too was down to Kubota or Branson. After checking out both I came to this conclusion. The 3510 Branson beat the L3400 hands down in every category...and the main one was total weight - the L3400 weighs 2580 lbs and the 3510 weighs over 3400. Not to mention the price difference. Don't remember what the warranty on the L3400 was but my 3510 has 3 year, 1000 hour unlimited coverage and after 150 hours I have not had to use it once. Kubota is one fine tractor but I really hate buying from a dealer that basically makes you feel like "there is no price negotiation, it's a kubota!"
J.D. Barron When you get ready to sell you will find the true cost. The $5000 goes away pretty quick.
I tracked the Mahindra sales for three months on Ebay and found that most did not sell or make reserve price.
The Kubota has a ready market used and the price holds up pretty well.

Mark B I endded up with the 2003 Branson 3510,And i do lot slearing and more,I have over 400Hrs on mine and still going,When i had the Kubota the thing was running HOT all the time,Had to wash out the screen to the radiator all the time,
Darrell It seems that i have to make this choice as well weather to go with the kubota L3400 or the Branson 3510i with front end loader. The price is the same. The branson dealer is 7 miles away and kubota is 30 miles away. I intend to use it for clearing and brushogging. I dont know a lot about tractors the only one i have ever driven ia a ford 9n can anyone help me

pete's tractor service bought one of the first 2810 branson's in 2004 at allcoast tractor in alva florida, now have 1,500 hrs, have bushoged and mowed 100's of acres, land cleared, disced, plowed. have root rake lift's 3000 lbs.replaced one hydrolic pump. mind you lots of front tires and minor self made problems. have woods backhoe dug several ponds.recommend branson 100%.my dealer principle sold so now i order all my parts on line and no problem and lot less money.

David I've owned both the Branson 3520 and the Kubota L3130. First, of all the off brands, Branson seems to make the nicest tractor. Its fit and finish is similar to that of the my current Kubota.
I moved all kinds of rocks and dirt with my branson and dug lots of trenches with its backhoe. The capacities are greater on the branson, but I do believe it will wear much faster. At 210 hours the clutch went out, the backhoe was very wobbly as if was losing its tolerences. I would still have it if it wasn't for the clutch issue, but it was going to be 1800 to replace with no guarantees. I purchased a Kubota L3130 and have done the same work with it. The kubota is built heavier where it counts. The BH90 backhoe is 5 times the backhoe of the branson. Lots better control and not jerky. The loader is much more well made on the Kubota as well. I had to reinforce my branson bucket by welding additional steel onto it a couple of times. I've never had to do that for the kubota. This is why I believe the branson will wear so quickly. It is not built heavy enough for the capacities they've given it. For some reason, the kubota rides a lot smother too which I can't figure out because they had the same size tires. The kubota has better ground clearence as well which is important when pushing through lots of snow or deep rutted mud. Price wise, there was only a few thousand difference between the two and resale value is way higher on the kubota.
I liked my branson, I just don't feel it is quite the tractor my kubota is in the details of the machine.

Robert I have a Branson 4720 with a little over 50 hours on it and I use it for all that you need it for and more; box blade, shredder, disc, auger, sub-soiler, front-end loader and backhoe. It's a very well built machine and i haven't had any problems whatsoever. Before purchasing my decision was between a J.Deere, a Kubota and the Branson; all well built but both the Deere and the Kubota commanded a big premium for their names. For me it came down to horsepower I could buy a 47 hp Branson for what J.Deere or Kubota wanted for their respective 35 hp models. You'll never regret going for more hp. My recommendation is buy the Branson 4720. It will mean spending about as much as you would on the Kubota 34, but you will have a lot more tractor. That 13 additional hp is worth a lot more than the Kubota name. There is no way you can go wrong. Good Luck
Bryan In 2007 I was also asking the same question that I am hearing here (Kubota or Branson). I picked the Brawnson because of three reasons. Cost $5000 difference, Weight Branson is a heavier tractor. Hydraulic pumps, Brawnson has two, one for Stearing one for accessories.
