D6H Oil Pressure Warning Light
| Marshall | I have a 1988 D6H with a 3306 engine that runs fine, but after I shut it down testerday then re-started it a few minutes later the oil pressure warning/fault came on. I shut down and re-started again but it is still on. I do not have any black smoke or knocking in the engine. Oil level is good and oil is clean. Any ideas would be appreciated.

| catmech | check the oil pressure with a manual gauge. then if it is ok, see if you have a broken wire to the pressure switch. or the pressure switch is bad. have seen the suction tube in the oil pan bolts back out from some one not torquing them when it was installed. yes there is suppose to be a lock on those bolts to prevent them backing out. try the above and see if it leads you anywhere. |
| Marshall | Thanks catmech. I think it is electrical as the machine runs fine most of the time and the light does not come on while running, only after I shut down then re-start. Where is the sending unit located?
|
| catmech | look at the back of the cyl. block, or the left side of the engine looking from the flywheel. that is where the oil galley plugs are.
