oil in the hydraulics

cumminsguy59 howdy guys, i got a problem with my D4/7U. The other day when i cranked it all the engine oil was sucked or pumped into the hydraulics. when it sat it drained back into the oil pan though. im not really sure where i need to start looking to figure out where the problem is and i was wondering if anyone had ever seen this kinda problem. its about a 52 model. but its always ran good till the other day. thanks for the help guys.
hector gemme The motor oil and the hydrolic oil compartiment are separated you should removed first the belly pan and see if the motor pan is not craked.
hector gemme HI I make mistake this morning , I had the same probleme with my d7 -47a and the motor was rebuilt and When was stop for cupple hours the oil came back in the pan and I was working for a cupple hours he had noting on the dipstick and I never know were was the oil and I dismantled the machine for the parts. SORRY

hector

catmech do you see the oil level rise in the hydraulic tank? or do just lose oil out of the engine? could be the oil is going into the clutch area through the spiral groove in the crankshaft, and when it sets it drains back.
cumminsguy59 Thanks for the replys guys. the Hydraulic fluid level rises. when the motor oil level went down i checked for leaks and found nothing. i didnt check the clutch area but i checked the hydraulic fluid and it was way over full. and as it would sit and the oil (mix) returned to the engine the hydraulic fluid would go back down. it done it both times. thats why im so confused. i have worked on some stuff that has a oil to hydraulic cooler. but this ol dozer sont have anything like that, at least that i dont see. its really stumping me. thanks guys

catmech where is the pump driven from? the engine at what point?
cumminsguy59 The oil pump is a gear driven pump located in the oil pan. Its in the front of the pan right under the #1 main. I really cant remember what drives the hydraulic pump. I will have to get back out their and have a look at it. it does have an oil cooler on it but doesen't it flow the oil around coolant in the oil cooler. Thanks for the help catmech.
hector gemme The d4 7u should have a 44 hydrolic tank and pump ass. in the front and drive by a shaft to the crankshaft puly.
