D7E 48A Steering Clutch

Bill McHargue I surfaced the end plates and put new bushings in the steering pump. With both clutch control levels pulled out. I have 300 psi and the machine still moves forward. If I apply the brakes it will stop then. At that point I am able to push the control levers in and the machine will over power the brakes..
I feel the machine should stop with the control levers fully pulled out, without having to apply the brakes.
Any ideas

You need to used the break pedal in same time.

Max It will not stop with clutches only unless the blade is loaded and that is a no-no, never touch
clutches with machine loaded, if you have to change the direction of the push back up and start the push again in the direction you want to go. There is to much gear reduction in the final drives and drag in the clutches even when they are disengaged for the machine to stop unloaded without using brake bands. Just my opinion

I have one more question about the the steering
clutchs. On friends D8K..it seems that when you pull out the steering clutch lever to turn...that the machine responds to it better than my D7E. I will explain. The machine turns effortless. The engine doesn't change RPM..it is not loading the engine to turn. On my D7E it seems like it pulls the engine RPM down, when you step on the brake pedal for the directional turn.

Max I am pretty sure the D8K is set up like a D9H,
the steering clutch levers serve two functions,
about halfway out disengages clutch, all the way
out clutch remains disengaged and applies some amount of brake. Your D7E clutch levers are not coupled to the brake bands nor is my D8H.
