Case 530 Backhoe

Ray Looking for guidance on how to boost rpm's when using backhoe. Was told lever to left of steering wheel was 'throttle'...but it does absolutely nothing when moved up or down...with or without depressing floor accelerator being depressed. Was then suggested that I press that floor acclerator and THEN move lever to left of steering column to 'lock in' higher rpms for backhoe. Didn't work. Of course, engaging backhoe at idle rpm's causes it to die out. Would guess this is @30 years old. Any ideas?
Sean Had to look up the parts drawing to see what you got,you have a hand and foot throttle, the lever on the dash has a rod that goes down to a crank to turn the shaft the foot throttle is connected to,you need to look at the rod to see that it is connected and that the lever is moving it,it is possible that the lever may not turning the rod or the other end is not turning the crank,it is just a mechanical linkage and does not have any cables, the hand throttle would be used to keep the engine at a set RPM while using the hoe or pto, some of the cranks on the rod ends are held on by spring pins and even though they appear intact the rod could be turning and not moving the crank.

Bill Either the hand or foot throttle should do the some thing, they should pull the governor lever on the injector pump or carbrator. With the engine off, you should see the linkage move on the left side of the engine when you operate the hand throttle.
