580SE gearbox fluid color ?

Nick
580SE gearbox fluid color ?

Pulled the diff lock cover on My 580SE (to change out the bent rod)
The Gearbox oil was light gray, is this correct or is there water in there.
What is the correct fluid ?

Thanks,
Nick

Sean I would say there is water mixed with the oil,the oil should be sort of golden brown, you would need to drain it and wash it out with diesel, check to see where the water got in,the gaiter on the shift, over use with a pressure washer or dipstick missing,or. The hydraulic line to the cooler is low pressure, you can use hose similar to whats on there commecting the tube to the cooler.
