||i have a case 446 tractor and i dont know if it is getting to hot and quitting or if it is vapor locking on me. its and onan 16hp motor. if i could get some help on this that would be nice
||I have a 1978 Case 446 16HP. It used to shut down when it got hot. The problem was a worn/cracked gas line between the gas tank and the fuel filter. I think it was vapor locking as a result. I replaced the fuel line and it has been perfect ever since. FYI ... Fred.
||I an having the same problem with my 446, i have changed the fuel line from the tank to the filter, lifted it off the motor and insulated it as i was thinking it was vapor locking too. That didn't change anything and the probem has got worse from quitting once a week to the point it only runs about 10 minutes now and quits. If you pull the carb apart, the float bowl is empty but when you turn it over, the pump works ok. The floats are not heavy, the float valve works ok, i put it back together and it runs 10 minutes again, then carb is empty again when i pull it apart. I checked the vacuum line to the pump and it is ok. The ignition system is also ok in the tractor, does not miss or have any lack of power when it is running. Could the fuel pump be working intermitely? Orginal pump, 1976 version.

||have same problem and just posted when i came across your postings .people i purchased tractor from gave up after spending thousands;well 1700.00my theory is crankcase pressure change when hot or working and no strength left to pump long distance up hill! secondly ignition box intermittant (havent checked fuel bowl)I will also check tank screen and fuel line to filter but they said this was already replaced.checking options on a low pressure low volume electric fuel pump! any solutions ;sounds like very common problem! will post if my repair is successful!
