|Nathan Abrams, Jr||On my VAC I bought to restore and use the muffler and manafold had rusted off. #1and 4 piston are stuck and I have tried almost every thing to free it. Deisal, break fluid, wd40, pb blaster, even water, what can I do to help free it up???
I has put it in gear and tried to spin the tire to help break it loose and that didn't help.
|Jon||Tidy Bowl mixed 2 to 1 seems to work....dont leave it in for more than a couple days though...
also heat with a torch, then cool with water ...then a rust penetrant.....repeat several times...
|scott||I have always used Tranny fluid to free up stuck pistons. Tranny fluid has cleaning properties. Rock the motor back and forth, not just one direction. If it doesn't break free, then the oil rings are no good and it will need to be replaced.
