Case 970 tranny prob?

Jay miller I'm looking to purchase a Case 970. The problem is it doesn't transfer power to the rear wheels. The owner told me at first it started when pulling heavy stuff such as when plowing , then gradually became worse until it can't move under its own power. Any ideas what may be the problem besides the clutch?
Dave If the 970 has a powershift transmission and it won't move in any gear you may have a problem with your tourque limiting clutch. The power shift models do not have a regular clutch like a standard trans. The torque limiting clutch is engaged all the time even when you depress the clucth pedal. This cluch disk is designed to slip under load and had a tendancy to wear out. You may want to perform pressure check on the power shift trans thoug before you do any thing.
