changing torque converter 580k

greggggg Have to change my torque converter. I have the book but if anyone here has done this before, let me know what I am in for.
Deewight Greg: I'm assuming it's an early "K" with Borg-Warner shuttle. Drain oil from shuttle and torque donut. (Torque donut drain accesible through hole in bell housing) Need a transmission jack to slide shuttle out. Torque donut is bolted to flex plate and you will need alignment tool to make sure donut is centred on flex plate. Suggest if you are buying donut from Case, take flex plate and bolts with you and have them install flex plate. Only other thing to keep in mind is pump drive from the tangs on the donut output. I usually put them at 12 and 6 o'clock and then move the tangs inside the torque pump to 3 and 9 o'clock and slide shuttle on to torque. Let us know how you make out.
