7130 Case Repair

Johnny What is the best way to remove the front wheel seal on a 4-wheel drive 7130 Case International tractor?
AJ Take off the wheel, drain the hub oil, clean the hub, between the wheel studs and on opposite sides you will find two countersunk locating screws, clean out the socket and use an Allen key of the correct size to loosen them, giving each of them a whack with a suitable punch makes loosening them easier, take the outer hat shaped cover off,if it does not come easy knock in the wheel studs,as you remove the cover keep the outside down because if the sun gears comes out with the cover they can fall out and the needle bearings can get lost, once the cover and reduction gears are out of the way take the bolts out of the centre and the hub will come off, clean everything, fit the new seal and put it together, put the wheel studs back in before you put the hub on,when the hub is on check it for play and if need be remove a shim so it has none but is hand free to turn, when you fill it with oil do not over fill it as the reduction gears acts like a pump and if over filled will leak,my Shell book says they take half liter of Spirax HD 85W-140 each.
