david brown 885 clutch problem
|doshaker||david brown 885 diesel. Starts, runs, has 2 stage clutch, the lower stage that works the pto is working fine, the upper stage that works the gears is not working. Can shift gears with clutch in or out but will not engage and move forward or backward. Is there an adjustment or will have to split traqctor and replace clutch?
|AJ||Not much into ag tractors, the clutch has adjustment, look at the linkage in case any of the arms or rods have gone over centre and holding the clutch released,ie over centre means like having your arm folded and then putting it straight out and it locks in that position.
|Twilliams||We have a clutch slipping but the clutch is not wore out. i was wandering what the distance between the pressure plate and the outside of the fly wheel. just wondering if it needs to be turn down the right distance on fly wheel.
|Joe||I have an 885 split in half right now to replace a crank. The clutches will also have to be replaced. From what I see here, you probably have a worn out clutch disk. If the pto works fine and the tractor won't move then there is no other diagnosis. There is an adjustment for the clutch which is nothing more than a stop bolt under the pedal. You can try to adjust it. The pressure plate is obviously working if the pto is working. The pressure plate puts pressure on both disk. If there is enough pressure to the pto disk which is closet to the engine then it stands to reason that the outer disk which runs the drive gears is in need of replacement assuming its just not out of adjustment
