David Brown 880 Selec-O-Matic

Hiram Webb Can you tell me the correct volume of hydraulic fluid for the transmission and hydraulic lift on a David Brown 880. I had a mechanic go through the system and clean it. Also re-worked the pump and the cylinder. The lift worked fine for about two hours. Now can't get lift to work. I have bleed the lines to get air out, found one leak, and added more fluid. Currently have 10.5 gallons in the system. Lift works fine under the shade tree, but quickly quits out in the field. Any one got some advice for me?????

Try this forum out. They are based overseas where david browns were made. They are very knowledgeable and have helped me out on mine a lot. If you strike out there, get ahold of Mr. Elmer Landman in Canada, his e-mail address is ejlandman@sympatico.ca He is also very sharp with these, AND he has and sells oddball and common new and used parts that you can't find at the dealer. Hope I read this soon enough!!!! Martin

Luc St. Jean My shop manual says 24 quarts (for transmission, including differential & hydraulic systems)
