info on case 830 tractor
| gary mccormick | I need info on a case 830 diesel with the case o matic t/m. i was told it was a 1964 model, i cannot find the ser# plate on the right side of the dash like the site tells you to look for the ser#. the t/m has 2 sticks, 4 speeds, hi/lo. it also has a lever on the r/side under the dash panel that has 2 positions, it hooks to the side of the engine. the sheetmetal says case-o-matic. i moved the battery box out and took off access plate the fluid is very milky looking. the fluid level in the rear that i checked at the dipstick on the t/m shifter plate is very milky looking. the tractor runs and shifts good, i have not run it enough to see if moving the lever on the r/side up and down to see if it changed the speed of the tractor. i want to restore this tractor and also use it to bushhog my pasture with. thanks for the help |

| cahess | Lever on r side is a decompression release leaver---holds ex valves open an is used for service on when ever it is necessary for engine to be turned over easier. As for it being a case-o matic it looks to me looking down on right side it is a conventional clutch tractor??? As for milky oil best get it changed soon as possible. Water might have gotten at shifter boot- or maybe might have been flood sometime. Recomend case tch -----atf-----or hy trans.Hydraulic system will be seperate on it an total capacity of trans an hyd is 17gal. If hyd is seperate it holds about 18 total gal an if equiped with case-o matic that will hold 4 more gallon an is a seperate compartment.Reason i am not sure you have a case-o matic is on left side of photo you show there is a convential clutch pedal an what looks like a inspection plate on left side for looking in at clutch. Case-omatic would havea valve body there. For sure get better oil in there if all works now.

| cahess | lever on side is a decompressor lever used to keep ex valves open to make servicing it turn easier. Looks like you have a plain dry clutch tractor in spite of hood, i SEE a clutch inspection plate on left side instead of a hyd valve used on case-o matic. As for oil you need to change pronto with case tch----atf or hy trans oil, Capacity of hyd an trans is 18gal, Later tractors had common sump but i think yours might have seperate hyd sump at rear of tractor. Total capacity is still 18gal. If i am wrong an your tractor as case-o matic that has seperate sump an holds 4 gal. There is a filter on right side if it has one. Filter for hyd is at rear under pto shaft, 3 bolts on its cap.
