Re: 580c weak hyds

Good power on the loader means the pump is ok,you should have the same on the hoe,oil from the pump goes to the loader valve and then on to the hoe, with good power on the loader it is my guess that an o'ring has failed on an extended adaptor on the loader valve, trace the supply pipe from the loader valve to the hoe, where that pipe connects to the loader valve there is an adaptor, that adaptor is a long one and the inner end has an o'ring and back-up ring,if the ring has failed the oil will leak internally and leave the hoe with no power, there were two types of loader valve Parker or Hydraco, both have that type adaptor but they differ.

Raymond burlison sunday i got into the valve bank on and i pulled some secondary reliefs out of the hoe valve bank and there were no orings on the check valves that are under the secondary reliefs i put orings on the upper and lower check plugs and then had lots more power so i pulled the reliefs out of all 5 top segments and none of them had orings on the check plugs, i dont know why. but the book and the parts book said there suppost to be there so i put them on tomorrow ill probably pull the bottom ones and check them and install them if there missing and i will check the extend adapter

AJ That more than likely is your problem but why would the rings be missing?,probably no need to take the extended adaptor out if that cures the problem, how would the machine be working properly with the o'rings on the valves missing?

raymond burlison
i have no idea where they went as far as i know nobody has ever been in it. it sat for a while but the last time i remember using it, it seemed ok but i hardly could ever get the boom to come up and lock into transport position. now it will lock every time.. before i found the orings missing it wouldnt hardly lift itself. but thank you for your information. ill let u know how it works when i get the bottom 5 orings installed on the load check plugs...

AJ If the boom will lock you cracked it,I have seen the odd o'ring blow but it would remain in the groove,no chance of them getting out as there is very little clearance, all's well that ends well.

raymond burlison ok pulled the bottom secondary reliefs and no orings on the load check plugs either, now i have replaced all 10 load check plug orings in the hoe valve bank and seems to have very good power the wierd thing is i have no idea where they went since they were all missing, i have not tried to dig with it yet buy with my dipper sticking strait out the boom had the pressure to come up and lock into place.

Bob Pecht I think I may have somewhat of the same problem. I have a 1977 580C 2wd and I was digging a stump over the weekend and noticed I had a fitting leak where the supply line for the backhoe boom connects to the valve. I unhooked the line at the valve and checked it over for cracks or holes and retightened. Leak stopped but now my boom will not stay up. Very little pressure down or up and drops immeadiatly when I let off the stick. All other aspects of the backhoe circuit works fine and the front loader has good power?? ANy thoughts??
