winter oil old diesel international

Robin Hi, I've got an old international 4 cylinder diesel. I use it with a scraper to clean the yard in the winter here in Quebec.

I'm currently running 15w 40 oil with a good API rating (CF, I think). It's got a circulator which makes starting easier, but it still turns over pretty hard on the colder days.

Would it be beneficial to run a good quality 5W 30 in the Winter, or maybe a Synthetic, or Synthetic blend? Or would that be too thin for the poor old beast? Thanks!

Gracias,

Luis Rosa
