Allis Chalmers B piston rings
|GP Simmons||I have an Allis Chalmers B, with the standard 3-1/4 cylinder bore. The casting number on my pistons is 207440. I need a set of piston rings, but have only been able to find rings for 3-3/8 or 3-7/16 bores. Does anyone know where I can get the 3-1/4 bore rings, or can I file down a set of 3-3/8 rings and put them in without breaking them?
|ron kelley||you can,but if you don't get the ring gap right,it will be a real bear to try and turn the motor.what i did was to buy a sleeve and piston kit. it comes with all the stuff you need.also,if there is a reputable AGCO dealer near you, they sometimes can get what you want.hope this helps.ron.
