1940-1941 116ci Model b Horse power
| Ted Rhodes | I'm looking to buy a model b with serial # b46316. As near as I can tell this is a 1940-1941 model b with a 116ci engine. Does this sound correct?? If so, I'm trying to figure out what horse power this engine/tractor has. It has a pto and a 3 point hitch on it. The only possible problems with this tractor is the right front wheel looks loose. I think it is a $40 fix with new bearings. And the right rear tire is loose. It is rocking on two of the clips that holds the rim to the wheel( there are 4 of these clips.)If it is a simple thing like adjusting the rim on the wheel, that's cool. If not, I think I'm looking at a new rim. Looks like about a $300 fix for new rim and mounting of tire. I would like to use it for small crop plantings about 6 acres right now, to a maximum of maybe 10acres in the future. Would I be able to use a 2 bottom plow with this tractor?? What size disc could I use with it??? What size brush hog could I use with it?? Any thoughts you might have would greatly appriciated. Thanks for any and all help. Ted |
| Jeff Z. | It looks to be a 1940. The 116ci engine had around 13hp at the drawbar and around 15 1/2 at the belt. You should be able to handle a two bottom. On the rims you might have to add a thin piece of metal {I use flashing} to the clamps. There are aftermarket rims that bolt on with no clamps for around 88.00 each. They solve alot of problems. |
| Ted Rhodes | Jeff, thanks for the quick response. I didn't see the rims that bolt on, if I get the tractor, I may have to look into that. So you think the problem is not that the rim is out of round??? Ok, so it is a 1940 model b, am I correct in the assumption that the engine is a 116ci???? Thanks again, Ted |
| Jeff Z. | The rim and clamps wear when they get loose. I'll get back to you with info on the other rims. Send me your email and I'll send you a picture. Probably a 116 since the 125ci engines started in 41. |
| Jeff Z. | The 125ci engine was being used before 41 in the RC model.

| rich4 | Small 2 bottom plow, preferably 2-12's maybe 2-14's in soft ground. No more than a 5 foot tandem disk, if it doesn't work you can always remove a disk on either side. Probably a 4 ft Brush hog would be OK.

| TED RHODES | Jeff and Rich, Thanks for the info. Jeff, email address is TRRHODES@aol.com Thanks for all your help, guys. I'm 95% sure I'm gonna buy the tractor. Just gotta get it approved by momma. LOL Ted |
