WD or WD45
| Mike McNary | I have read all 12 pages of posts and followed links but still can't figure out what kind of tractor I've got here. The serial # is WD 97296. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Thanks, Mike |
| rich4 | Very simple, look on the right side of engine block,if it has a large rectangular plate its a WC or WD,no plate it's WD45
|
| Mike | Thanks for the information. It does have a plate on the right side, from the head down to the crankcase. I'm trying to find parts for this, because it was on a farm we bought and looks in decent shape, so would the wd in the serial number denote it's an wd instead of a wc. The reason I'm asking is for parts ordering information. THanks, Mike

| Shaun Wallace | Gear shift lever strait wd. shift lever curved wd45.

| Jeff Z. | The gear shift lever is not a good way to tell the differance. When Allis was making improvements to the WD {New Transmission} many were sold with the new transmission {Curved Shiter} with the WD engine. After more improvements were made to the WD one being larger engine Allis renamed the WD the WD45. So, the later WD's and the 45's had curved shifters. One way to tell is the oil filter housing. The WD had one line coming from the bottom and aways down the line it tee'd off. The WD45 has a tee right under the housing the almost makes it look like two lines come out of the bottom of the filter housing. |
