Allis-Chalmers G timing

Ron Abbring I replaced the fan belt and removed the distributor. I must have moved things it won't start. What do you line the mark on the pulley with. Is plug one by the fan or end of engine.
robert ron,

the pulley notch should line up with the small hole in the hood under the hand crank guide.
number 1 spark plug is on the pulley end of engine.
line up rotor button in no. 1 position ,carefully
lower distributor into block. make sure rotor is still lined up and the notch is lined up with hole in hood. it should crank you will need to fine tune
the timing to smooth out the engine. afterward try to crank it if it kicks back, the timing is too high and should be retarded to correct .
hope this helps, robert
