wireing for 7040,
I have recently had to replace the alt on my 7040. The new alt required an external volt reg which I was able to complete. So far, everything except the tach is working. There is a wire for the tach to connect to the alt, but I dont know where to put it. Anyone have any diagrams for this upgrade?
Im glad to have found this site. I have many other questions regarding my 7040. It has been an awesome tractor and I would love to get it back in good working order.
|steve||there is no way to wire the tachometer with an external voltage regulator. the original alternator was either a delco or a neihoff. both have a terminal for the tach. on the delco it was in the same area as the field wire. the tach pickup was wire into the alternator. these are available rebuilt from napa and other parts stores. on the neihoff it is a separate push on termal. hope this helps.
