Craftsman mower problem
|Timothy Wells||I was mowing my sisters yard when I hit a piece of 2x4 in some tall grass. It locked up the blades and killed the mower. I got the wood out and the blades lucky weren't bent. I started it back up engaged the blades and started mowing again. The it started to sputter and died and now won't start. It is an 18hp Kohler magnum model 917252711. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
|joe||If you mean by eng not starting & same is being cranked by starter motor but won't fire/run check flywheel key, same may be Z bent/sheared due to stopping eng suddenly with a load on it & ign timing now out of wack.
If shaft key intact then check all safety sw's on tractor especially safety sw for mower deck if a manual engage deck(not elect pto)you may have bent deck hangers,sprung/bent deck or caused some other damage & safety sw for deck not being actuated by deck arm for sw.
Hopefully you learned a valuable lesson, you ALWAYS WALK a yard before mowing.
