|Craig smith||I need help changing head gasket on d318 in cat d6 8u bulldoser
|catmech||Your questions are? There are water seals and Farrell large and small. Small one is for oil passage. large ones for water. New head gasket. Can re-use farrells if not damaged. Roll seals over them into middle. I put the farrell on a tapered punch, easier to start seals on farrell.
make sure liner flanges are clean and block top surface as well. If the problem for replacing head gasket is low liner projection, there are shims under the liners, that can be changed. Be leave liner projection is .002 to .006 when they are held down tight for checking. Hope that helps.
