I am having some problems and if you have any insights it would be appreciated.

I have a Massey 165 diesel, multi power and independent PTO. The problems started when baling a year ago. A knocking developed that was there when idling and all tractor operations. We split the tractor at the transmission and ran the engine separately, no knocking. Took the hydraulic pumps out but could not determine a problem, they all rotated freely with no tight spots. Put the tractor together again and the knock is still present.

Just recently while doing some PTO work ( stalk shredder) the multipower quit working and the independent PTO slips under light load and will completely stop. The knocking noise is still present.

We checked the hydraulic pressure at the side plate on the transmission,
zero pressure, we checked at the bell housing for the multi power control valve and had zero pressure. We checked at the rear remotes and only had 250 pounds pressure.

While checking the pressure at the rear remotes you could feel a vibration while holding the pressure gauge which coincided with the knocking sound. There also was a slight pressure variation which also co-insided with the knocking sound.

If you have any ideals or suggestions they will be appreciated.
Richard
