Here is a list of things to check.
Fan belt is tight.
Watch the bottom hose to make dure it's not collapsing.
Can you see through all the fins on the radiator.
Remove some tin and hold a light behind the radiator and make sure you can see light through all the fins from top to bottom.
Sometimes water will come out the overflow and when the radiator reaches the right level it will stop. Not really coming out the overflow from over heating.
Thermostat may be stuc closed,
Radiator may be getting plugged on the inside.
