In Reply to: MH 175 - Gas in tank heating up! posted by Bill on Sunday, August 16, 2009:

you may have a car gas cap on your tractor fuel tank. a cap made for a tractor should be vented so that pressure would not build up, this allows the fuel to flow toward carb without causing a vacuum.

check for an exhaust manifold leak directing heat toward tank,

timing of motor could be off, rich/lean carb setting.

are you sure the coolant gauge is working correctly and that the motor is not getting too hot.

borrow or buy et one of those lazer temp gauges and check all around motor for hot spots,

something is causing the tank to get that hot and you have to find the problem.
