It will probably get hot enough that you wouldn't want to touch it for very log, but probably not hot enough to burn you instantly. I'd guess it would be a little cooler than the exterior of the oil pan, but not much.
I'd expect it to get almost as hot under heavy drawbar or PTO work too. Did the loader cylinders get that hot?
I think their is a trans oil cooler coil in front of the radiator, you might check that it's not clogged with hay. Trace oil hoses running up the left side of the engine, probably up under the hood sheet metal, but barely.
