We just bought a real nice used MF 390 2WD and it has a differential lock, but I've never used it until recently. One of our guys was driving it yesterday and I think he engaged by accident and tried to unlock it, but now it acts like the lock is in or is partially in, because the rear end gears feel tight like it's got a bind and it's not rolling free like it did. It wants to grab to a stop even when you pull the clutch in just before it stops rolling and it's shifting harder. There is a new whining sound too off the left rear wheel, now maybe that part is just my imagination. Anyway we tried engaging and disengaging the diff. lock using the right foot pedal that is located behind your right foot and then we are using level above it to disengage the pedal, but it seems stiff and maybe it's not releasing completely? Anyway, somethings not right here and I think it's operator error because we're doing something wrong with the disengaging part.
Does anyone know how this works and how can we be sure we've completely disengaged the differential lock so it's more free wheeling again?
