I have a 1967 MF 150, gas, with independent power take off. It has the original gear pump providing oil to the IPTO. I have had the lift cover off and cleaned both pump filters, refilled with new perma-tran hydraulic oil. Everything worked well for 30 hours. I bored eight postholes with the PTO without problems. I hooked up the five-foot brush cutter and only made a couple of passes and then the PTO shaft just coasted to a stop. I checked the pump pressure at the test port and only had 20 psi with hardly any flow, I think it should produce around 4 gpm at PTO speed and around 200 psi. Thinking the pump clearance is excessive; I drained the perma-tran and tried GL-1. The pump pressure increased to only 70 psi and still hardly any flow. I believe the clutch pack is OK. I plumbed a hose from my diverter valve off the three point pump and supplied 200 psi to the test port of the IPTO and the PTO shaft seemed to work OK. I couldn’t hold the PTO shaft with a six foot 2 x 4 levered between the shaft and drawbar.

At this point, I need some help! Pump gone? Relief valve stuck? I’m sorry for the long post, but wanted to supply as much information as I could.
Thanks
