I use valvoline 10w40 in my TO-35 and have for years with good service,
Little tractor runs great and holds oil pressure in center of factory gauge.
Friend has 311K on his 96 chevy pickup with 350 engine and he has always used 10w40 valvoline in the truck, so it must be good oil.
Be sure springs are in oil filter canister. Mine had been dumped out, had to be replaced this year.
Good luck with tractor,
