Hi, i used to fit these steering kits onto new tractors, and they werent great then!
You have got some wear/ slack somewhere,usually where the ram rod is anchored with a pin to the main casting and / or the vertical shaft/bushes that it all pivots on.
What happens is the assembly tilts over when you turn the wheel and uses up all the slack needed to operate the spool on the ram, it works the other way as the vertical shaft always seems to stay in position one way !
You need to get someone to turn the wheel while you look. Bill.
