Dale the most common problem that causes housings and casings to crack is they have worked loose and start to move about especially with hydraulic top covers....I have seen this problem before especially on large tractors with heavy ploughs mounted on the 3 point lonkage....the top cover works loose and the bolts begin to move and eventually the covers work slack....move about and shear the bolts and then crack the casings....Hope this gives you some explaination ....Geoff
