Curt it's very easy to break one of these filter bowls. The bowl can be damaged when it's removed and filters are being changed, the next usual cause is over tightening on assembling....you have to just nip them tight....you are not the only one to experience this happening and wont be the last. One uf my work mates did the same when he was servicing a 135 and he had to return to the workshop for a replacement....a round trip of over 40 miles....the workshop foreman wasn't too pleased with him as you can imagine...I always carried a spare one in my service van when I worked for an MF dealer.....hope this will help you....Regards....Geoff
