Sorry for the long post but basically for around $1500 I can get alot of different brands of mowers with briggs engines. Go up to $2000 which I can do but is it neccessary you really got choices. Kohler seems more due to mowers with those engines run closer to 1700-2000 depending on brands. If those are better for my needs I am willing to pay more but it is scary to see that those motors are having problems on the board. If the briggs is a good engine I can easily get in a entry level JD, decent Craftsman, and easily MTD's made under different names. There are just so many it confuses new people to the market like myself. Alot of people tell me to go with Kohler and do not buy briggs.
