: : Hi all, I am hoping someone might help me out. I got a riding lawn mower from a friend. It has no Identification on it. I was going to use it around the house with a trailer. I replaced the soliniod and the ignition switch but can only get the thing to start by having the switch on and shorting out the solinoid. I have looked for some wiring diagrams on how to wire this "no name tractor", but have not succeeded. My guess is it is an old sears but i can't find any literature or any photos that match what it looks like. Any leads on a wiring diagram would help me out alot. Thanks, Kurt
: Hi,
: Quick and dirty: After removing the battery cables, put a light or a ohms meter across the pairs of terminals and find continuity when the sw is placed in the spring loaded "start" position. That terminal (not the ground terminal) will go to the starter solenoid. It MUST drop off when the switch is spring returned to the "Run" position. Also, I have wiring diagrams from Craftsman tractors that I could send you if you want. Send me an e-mail and I can get them to you within 12 hours over the net. Good luck, Jim.
