JD 317 Questions

1) Will a mower deck from a JD 140 fit my tractor?

2) I think I have the Series I engine what other then keep the oil level up can I do to prolong the engine life? Is there a fix for the known problem??

3) The PTO engages for about 10-20 seconds and then shuts the tractor down. I found that a older Battery can cause that, is there any thing else. I recently bought the tractor so I do not know the condition of the battery.
